No More Readers: Angela’s Lens Replacement Experience

Angela: I think I first started noticing it right before I retired from the military. Right after I retired, I went to photography school. When I graduated as a photographer, I was doing the glasses on, off, on, off, behind the camera, looking past the camera. Very frustrating.

I think, probably, the turning point for me to do something about it was when I went shopping at Walmart but I had to ask an elderly lady, probably the age of my grandmother to read something for me at Walmart and I thought, "Okay, that's it. This is ridiculous."

I initially went in to get a consultation for LASIK and/or some of the other options that I had read about and found out quickly, for a number of reasons, that I wasn't necessarily a candidate for those and then that's when they talked to me about CLR.

The procedure was really quick, really easy, really straightforward. I can't say that I wasn't nervous about it. I was. I mean, I think anybody would be. It's our eyes and we have one set. But I was pleased. The recovery was super quick and no pain at all and I have zero pain tolerance, zero. My husband will tell anybody that about me.

The people here are so professional and accommodating. I mean Dr. Luke, God bless him because I texted him three times a day for the first week after my surgery and he was so patient with me and so, he would text me right back every single time and answer my questions and make me feel comfortable and just tell me, "Be patient. You're going to be fine. I promise."

I don't have to worry about, do I have my readers, am I going to go somewhere where I need my readers. If we're out somewhere and my husband doesn't have his readers, I'm always having to read stuff for him when we're out. Menus, the phone, the same stuff that I had to have readers for and now I'm reading for him if he forgets his glasses. I tell everybody, "Go get it. If you're a candidate, go do it. Don't hesitate."
